Clayton Elder

Curate

The Rev. Clayton Elder comes to us from Perkins School of Theology where, sponsored by the Church of the Incarnation, he received his Masters of Divinity, and spent the last year interning at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Pottsboro, Texas. He was ordained to the transitional diaconate in the Diocese of Dallas in October 2008.

Clayton and his wife, Jodie, are originally from Victoria, Texas, in the Diocese of West Texas, and have lived in and been involved in the Diocese of Dallas for the last four years.

With Incarnation as their church home, Clayton and Jodie have attended their Uptown service, with Clayton being intimately involved with Fr. Bob Johnston in the planning, development, and leadership of this new contemporary worship service. In the last year, Clayton has rounded off his pastoral formation in rural ministry by aiding the Rev. Ally Perry in leading, teaching, preaching, and pastorally caring for an eighty member church near Pottsboro, Texas.

Clayton comes to us with a background in Education and Business, acquiring his B.A. in English at SMU, and his M.A. in International Business at Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland. He has five years of experience in education as a Teacher and Coach in both private and public schools and has worked in business in Marketing, Production, and Management both in his own business and in the corporate world.

A power team, his wife Jodie works fulltime as a Licensed Professional Counselor for Dallas ISD’s Youth and Family Centers and is currently working on her Ph. D. in Counseling at Texas A& M University-Commerce. We are excited to have Clayton on staff where he will assist the clergy in attending to the needs of the parish, with a special emphasis on leading and developing The Crossing at St. Luke's, our new 10 a.m. contemporary service.
