The Rev. Aquilino Lara

Aquilino Lara was born and raised in Hidalgo, Mexico, northeast of Mexico City, and became a US citizen in 1995. He and his wife, Juana, have been married since 1991 and have three children – Jesse, Ricardo, and Linaizel. He joined the Episcopal Church in 1999, attending Holy Nativity in Plano where he served on the vestry. In 2003, he and his family transferred their membership to the Cathedral Church of St. Matthew in Dallas where he become a leader of cursillistas and organized and began the evening prayers on Wednesdays. He served one term on the vestry and also participated in the mission trip to Ensenada, Mexico.
After discerning a vocation to the Holy Order, Lino began his studies at The Instituto Teologico de San Mateo in Dallas. During his last year at the institute he was appointed by the Bishop to serve at St. Mary’s in Irving assisting the rector, Fr. Damian Dollahite, with the Spanish Community as a Lay Pastor. He did his Clinical Pastoral Education at Parkland and in April, 2009 was reappointed by the Bishop to St. Luke’s Dallas to assist Fr. Robert Odom in the Spanish community. He attended the University of Dallas for a four-year sacred scriptures program and was ordained to the transitional diaconate in the Diocese of Dallas in June 2010 by the Right Reverend Paul Emil Lambert. He was ordained to the Sacred Order of Priests by the Right Reverend James M. Stanton in May 2011.
