St. Luke's calls Fr. Robert Odom as RectorThe Vestry of St. Luke’s, Dallas is pleased to announce the calling of The Rev. Robert Odom as Rector. Most recently Fr. Robert served on the staff of St. James Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as Associate Rector. While in Baton Rouge he served as the director of the St. James Center for Spiritual Formation, coordinated the adult education programs, led the adult mission trips to Mexico, and provided pastoral leadership for the Associate Vestry. He was also instrumental in many ministries surrounding hurricane relief efforts. Fr. Robert earned a B. A. degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University in 1990, and continues to be a proud Tiger alumnus. Subsequently he worked at Pyburn & Odom, Inc. as an environmental scientist. After discerning a vocation to the priesthood at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, Fr. Robert entered Nashotah House seminary in 1998. Having earned a Master of Divinity degree, he graduated in May 2001. While at Nashotah he was selected to serve on the student/faculty Pastoral Referral Team and was elected by the student body to serve as Student Representative to the Board of Trustees. He was also a Choral Scholar. Fr. Robert was ordained a priest by Bishop Charles Jenkins in September 2001 and served as a curate at Christ Church in Covington, Louisiana until the call to St. James in 2004. He married Southern Methodist University graduate Mary Tannehill of Baton Rouge in 1995. They have two young children, George and Suzette. Robert enjoys family time, exercise, tennis, singing, and reading. Please keep Fr. Robert, Mary, George and Suzette in your prayers as they transition to Dallas. |
