Honduras Mission Trip 2010Honduras Packing Day
What a wonderful day! We had over 75 volunteers from St. Luke's and Friends joined the packing day event on Saturday, February 6, 2010. We counted 165,000 pills into prescription portions to be dispensed from the Pharmacy, which will be set up along with the Clinic, at Iglesia Santiago in Siguatepeque, Honduras. The Youth Team prepared 700 Hygiene Packets, which includes Antibacterial Ointment, Bandaids, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Shampoo, Skin Moisturizer and Soap. These packets are given to each person who visits the Doctor or Dentist in the clinic. The items are considered luxuries for most of the people we serve. The average income in Honduras is $3,130 per year. The Team of 18 people will leave on Wednesday, February 18 on a 6:00 AM Flight. We will arrive in San Pedro Sula, Honduras around 1:00 PM. Then we will gather the 36 Army Duffel Bags full of supplies, hop on the School Bus, and make the 2 hour drive to Siguatepeque. The clinic will open on Thursday morning at 8:30, ready to go, since a team of 4 left on Monday to set up the clinic and pharmacy in the church. Each afternoon, the Christian Ed team will hold a Bible Study/Craft class for over 100 children. In the mornings, the Christian Ed gals make the team lunch, Bless You! Our Construction Team will be building a Rectory at Iglesia San Tomas, a few miles from the clinic. They will have plenty of Honduran helpers and El Hefes (Bosses)! Thank you, St. Luke's, for your continued support of this important outreach project. Those who go, those who stay, those who pray, and those who donate money, time and talent...all make for the success of this trip each year.
