“Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, ‘Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.’ “- Luke 18:15-17
Nursery: Newborn through 3 Years
Nursery is provided for children birth through 3 years old in the newly remodeled and furnished nursery. Our loving nursery staff will share God’s love with our littlest ones during both the 10 a.m. Sunday service, as well as during Christian Education classes.
Security and safety is insured by way of a sign-in sheet that parents fill in each time their child/children attend the nursery.
After the gospel reading, the crucifer leads children ages 3 through 3rd grade to the Children’s Chapel, where they participate in a worship experience customized for their age group. While listening to a sermon, reciting the Apostles’ Creed, participating in the Prayers of the People, and confessing their sin, our children are able to experience Christ in a way meaningful to them. Children return to the church service in time for the passing of The Peace and to participate in Holy Communion with their families.
Christian education for children is a high priority at St. Luke’s. From age 4 through 6th grade, we offer a Bible-based curriculum that introduces our children to stories from the Bible and reinforces the importance of the lessons the stories tell. The Christian Education year kicks off in mid-September and runs throughout the school year (typically late May).
